Print once. Mail twice

Each issue is printed every other month in one large run, which is what keeps rates down. Half the copies mail on the first drop; the other half are held thirty days and mail on the second. Both drops cover every zip code we serve, so a magazine lands in the market every month.

Drop 1

Whole area, half the homes

Drop 2

Whole area, half the homes

Both drops cover the whole area. Each reaches a different half of the homes, so an issue lands in 60,000 unique homes and no home gets the same issue twice.

  • Calls rise for about two weeks after every drop, so an advertiser sees leads all year rather than in bursts.
  • You are billed per drop and your ad prints per issue; two drops per issue is why the numbers read the way they do.
  • Owner-occupied single-family homes only, ranked by home value, carrier route by carrier route.

Every ad comes with the work around it

Free

Professional ad design

Our art department designs your ad and updates it every issue. No agency fees, and you can change the offer as often as you like.

Optional

A tracked phone number, free

Not required, but the easiest way to prove your return on ad spend. Take it and every call is recorded and logged, so you can hear exactly which jobs the magazine produced.

Included

Your online portfolio

A profile on the market's Home Pros directory, where homeowners request quotes that go straight to you.

1,000+

Copies to the trade

Each issue also mails to the leading home-improvement pros in the market, so the people who refer work see your name too.

Is your business a good fit?

Do you work directly with homeowners? Then you are almost certainly a fit. Any licensed contractor serving residential customers belongs in the book; here is who runs well in it.

Typically not a great fit

Commercial-only contractors, and businesses outside home improvement. The book stays home improvement only, so a homeowner reading it is thinking about their house and nothing else.

Results you can hear

Most print cannot prove it worked. Ours can

Every ad can carry a dedicated tracked number at no charge. It is optional, and it is how you prove the return on your ad spend: you never have to ask callers where they heard about you, because the log already knows.

  1. A homeowner calls the tracked number on your ad

If you take the tracked number, it is yours alone and rings any line you choose. We can change where it rings at any time.

  2. A short whisper tells you the call came from Home Pros

You hear it before the caller does, so you know the source before you say hello.

  3. The call is recorded and logged

Recordings stay available for a year. Listen back to judge lead quality, or to catch a call you missed.

  4. Your report shows every call

Daily, weekly or monthly, with per-call email or text alerts. Your data is private and never shared with other advertisers.

3 to 10 times more calls

Ads that carry an offer, a coupon or a special draw three to ten times the calls of ads that do not.

Calls you would have credited elsewhere

Advertisers who were sure the ad had not worked found booked jobs in their call log that came from the magazine.

2011

Founded in Bakersfield

Since our first issue the mission has not changed: connect qualified home professionals with local homeowners. After fifteen years and tens of thousands of homeowners connected, the name now says what we do.

Started by Kevin Harrer, a marketer who runs Ugly Duck Marketing, and Jarrett Jamieson, whose own home-improvement companies were the first to prove the model.
